Steps to connect to a published data source through Tableau Desktop.

These steps are applicable to both Tableau Server (On-prem) and Tableau Online.

Open the Tableau desktop and click the Tableau Server option.
On the Tableau Server Sign in dialog box, select your server, and click the Connect button.
Enter your credentials in the Username and Password field and click the Sign In button.
Choose the data source which you want to open through the Tableau desktop, and click the Connect button.
Once the connection is established, you can use the data source to create workbooks.
