Overview

This section explains how to add new nodes to an existing Kyvos cluster on Azure by provisioning additional Virtual Machine instances and registering them through Kyvos Manager.

You can add new Query Engine and Analytical Server nodes to your cluster. The process involves two stages:

  1. Provision a new VM instance in the Azure Portal.

  2. Register that instance with the cluster via Kyvos Manager, assigning it the appropriate service role (Query Engine or Analytical Server).

The steps below walk through adding a Query Engine node — the same process applies for Analytical Server nodes.

Important

Your license determines the maximum number of Query Engine and Analytical Server instances allowed. Confirm you have sufficient license capacity before adding more nodes.

Adding instance to Azure Scale Set

  1. Log in into Microsoft Azure Portal and search for Virtual machine scale sets.

  2. Search for existing Kyvos Query Engines scale sets.

  3. Open the instance to view the VMs currently part of the cluster (e.g., 3 existing VMs).

  4. Select Scaling > Manual Scaling.

  5. Enter the number of required instances in the Instance Count (4 in this case) and click Save.

  6. New VM instances will begin provisioning under the Instances section. Azure scale sets temporarily provision 1 extra instance beyond your target to guarantee availability; this extra instance is automatically removed once the desired count is reached.

  7. Once provisioning completes, capture the private IP address of the newly created instance — you'll need it in the next step.

Adding newly created instance to Kyvos cluster

  1. Log in into Kyvos Manager and navigate to Kyvos and Ecosystem > Node and Service Mapping.

  2. Click the three-dot menu and select Add Nodes.

  3. In the Add Nodes to Cluster dialog, enter the IP address of the newly created VM.

  4. Under Services, select the service to run on this instance (e.g., Query Engine or Analytical Server).

  5. In the right pane, review the Node Details and Prerequisite Checks, then click Next.

Once complete, the new VM is added to your cluster and appears on the Kyvos Manager Dashboard.
