Overview
This section describes how to deploy a Kyvos cluster on AWS using the wizard-based deployment workflow in Kyvos Manager to configure or create the required resources and install Kyvos services.
Download the AWS Installation Files folder and keep all required files readily available during installation and deployment.
Before starting the deployment, ensure that all prerequisites are met.
Kyvos Manager provides a wizard to help you deploy a cluster using the following options:
Dedicated Compute Cluster: You can process data on a dedicated compute cluster.
Kubernetes Cluster: The Kubernetes cluster can be used in either dedicated mode or shared mode. In shared mode, the cluster's node pool can be configured for either dedicated or shared use.
Full support for namespaces is provided, allowing users to create and use existing namespaces. If a namespace with the specified name is not found, a new namespace with the provided name will be created.
| Node Pool | |
Operation | Shared | Dedicated |
Change Node pool Max Size | No | Yes |
Change instance Type & old pool deletion | No | Yes |
Deployment Options
You can deploy the Kyvos cluster using any of the following options:
Deploy Using Resources from a Kyvos Stack: Deploy the cluster using resources that are part of the Kyvos Stack created by downloading a template from Kyvos Manager. For details, see Create and download the template.
Important:
If you use ARM architecture (Graviton) instances for Kyvos, you must also use ARM architecture instances for the dedicated compute cluster. Similarly, use non-Graviton instances for both Kyvos and the dedicated compute cluster when using non-Graviton architecture.
Kyvos uses Lambda functions to start the Analytical Server instances. The CloudFormation template creates the following three Lambda functions:
Scheduled start of the Analytical Server.
Forced start of the Analytical Server.
Display of cluster status on the Kyvos Web UI.
Deploy Using Resources from a Custom Stack: Deploy the cluster using resources created by your Custom Stack, rather than a stack created by downloading the template from Kyvos Manager. In this case, the CloudFormation template is created by the user, and the Lambda functions are not created unless they are explicitly specified in the stack. To enable scheduling for the Analytical Server, you can create and configure the Lambda functions after installation.
Deploy Using Externally Created Resources: Deploy the cluster using account resources that are created externally without using a stack. This option uses the node mapping option in Kyvos Manager.
The Lambda functions are not created in this deployment method. To enable scheduling for the Analytical Server, you can create and configure the Lambda functions after installation.
Regardless of the deployment option you select, if you do not have permission to fetch resources from the cloud environment, you must manually enter the required resource information, such as instance IP addresses and bucket names. Resources can be created using the AWS Console, CLI, REST API, or SDK.
Wizard-Based Deployment
To start the wizard-based deployment, perform the following steps:
Log in to the AWS Console and create an EC2 instance for Kyvos Manager.
On the EC2 instance, copy or download the Kyvos installation setup provided by Kyvos Support.
Start Kyvos Manager and access it using your credentials.
Alternatively, access the installation URL in the following format:
http://clusterIP:port/kyvosmanager/kyvos-installer/awsIf you do not have the URL or credentials, contact Kyvos Support.
Select a Deployment Option
Kyvos Manager displays the following deployment options:
I have all the resources: Select this option to use resources that are part of the stack created by downloading a template from Kyvos Manager. This option installs Kyvos services on the configured resources based on your AWS account information. See details.
I want to create resources: Select this option to create the resources required to install Kyvos services, such as the Analytical Server and Query Engine, in the AWS environment. See Details.
