Overview
Kyvos includes built-in backup and disaster recovery (DR) capabilities to protect your cluster configuration, metadata, and repository data against node failures, region outages, and other disruptions. This section explains how to plan a DR strategy, configure periodic backups, and recover a Kyvos deployment — whether you're protecting a single-region cluster or replicating across regions for full disaster resilience.
Use this section to:
Understand Kyvos's overall backup and DR architecture and plan a strategy suited to your deployment
Set up same-region recovery for clusters using an installed (bundled) PostgreSQL repository
Configure periodic backups of bundled repositories so recovery points stay current
Set up cross-region DR for high availability across AWS, Azure, and GCP
Fail back to your original region once it's restored
Validate cluster health automatically after a restart or recovery
Note
Cross-region disaster recovery requires a High Availability (HA) deployment with an external repository.
